Keefe and Gaffigan Crowned Homecoming Queen and King
On Friday November 1, during halftime of the Homecoming game, Ben Gaffigan and Karina Keefe were announced Homecoming King and Queen.
An arch of blue and gold balloons was brought onto the field and each nominated student was escorted across the field. While each nominated student crossed the field the announcer read out a little speech talking about each student.
They had their goals and plans for the future; some even had little thank you notes in them. The nominees for Homecoming queen walked across first, Karina Keefe was escorted by her father. Then the nominees for Homecoming King crossed. Ben Gaffigan was escorted by his parents.
The announcer then called out the Homecoming Queen as Karina Keefe. “I thought it was flattering, I hoped Ben would win too,” said Keefe.
Then they announced Ben Gaffigan as Homecoming King. Screams and cheers erupted from the stands as they were crowned. “Karina had already been called so I was a bit relieved when they called my name…I thought it was neat,” said Gaffigan.
Keefe and Gaffigan won prince and princess for their class last year. “I was surprised that we had won two years in a row,” said Gaffigan. “I was pretty surprised, not overwhelmingly surprised, but surprised,” said Keefe. During the dance everyone formed a circle so that they could have a dance together as King and Queen.
