Your Makeup Should Change with the Season

Makeup is a part of almost every girl’s daily routine, but you should have a different routine for every season.

The winter season is coming up, and it’s time to switch up the colors. The most popular colors in winter are greens, blacks, browns, and plums. Changing your blush color, lipstick color, and eye shadow color is recommended.

You don’t want to be wearing a hot pink blush in the middle of December. “My favorite color eye shadow to wear in winter is brown! It literally goes with everything,” said Olivia Barbour, senior at Catoctin High School.

The best winter blushes are Dusty Rose by NYX, Clinique Fresh Bloom Peony Blend, Wet n’ Wild Berry Shimmer, Benefit Dandelion, and Bare Minerals Golden Gate, just to name a few. Whatever blush you choose to wear in winter, make sure it’s not too shimmery or too bright. Wearing something too bright or shinny in winter doesn’t really look natural, which defeats the whole purpose of blush. “I don’t really wear blush, but when I do I like to wear a light pink that looks really light and natural,” said Allison Kula, senior at Oakdale High School.

Wearing a bold lipstick is a really hot trend right now. The right lipstick can complete a cute outfit; however you can’t just throw on a hot pink lipstick in winter. I would suggest wearing a plum, burgundy, red, nude, or mauve pink. Some of my favorite lipsticks for winter are MAC Rebel, MAC Talk That Talk, Rimmel Kate in 107, L’Oreal Paris Lipstick in Luminous Grape, and Wet n Wild Bare it All.

These are just some of my favorite fall and winter colors. These are just suggestions; if you want to find your own, just don’t pick out the hottest pink you can find at the store. “I love lipstick! I wear it all the time! My favorite color to wear is red! Red lipstick is life,” said Khiarra Watkins, senior at Governor Thomas Johnson High School.
