Turn a Pine Cone Into a Cute Christmas Card

pinecone craftby Hannah Taheri

This holiday season; bring out your creative side by doing some fun holiday crafts. Some crafts can be extremely messy and time consuming, but this time, if you have a pinecone, glue, and some paint—you have a perfect craft. Here are some few easy steps on how to make an ordinary pinecone into a cute Christmas craft:

  • Things you’ll need:  Pinecones (You can also buy them online or at your local craft store, but it might be easier to look around outside and find some!)
  • Acrylic craft paint
  • Spray Glitter (Optional)
  • Liquid Glitter Glue (or regular glue)
  • Paint brush
  • Miniature flower pot
  • Add-ons: (Jewels, bows, etc.)
  • Hot glue gun (optional)
  • Newspapers to use as a surface to make sure there is no mess!

STEP 1: Decorate the flower pots using a paint brush and the acrylic paint with whatever festive design you would like.

STEP 2: While the pots are drying, take a pinecone and use glitter glue to glue the jewels or other add-ons onto the ends of the pine cones’ points.  You can also use glitter glue to decorate the ends of the points without jewels.

STEP 3: Take the pinecone outside and spray the spray glitter all over the pinecone to give it a glittery shine!

STEP 4: If you would like, you can hot glue your pinecone into its flower pot once both are dry.

STEP 5: Place the pinecones and their pots around the house or wherever you’re decorating to spruce up the place with some fun holiday decorations!

With only five super easy steps, there is no reason you can’t have fun Christmas crafts to do and festive holiday decorations to put up this Christmas.
