Got $38 Million? You Can Buy This Ferrari

by Adam Hostetterfeatures - adam,ferrari,news)

For years Ferrari has paved the road for precision driving and racing machines. The Ferrari brand has been an exemplification of wealth, speed, and luxury.

At the annual Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegrance, an extremely rare item drove onto the spot, a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. This particular car was carefully and meticulously engineered by Giotto Bizzarrini, who was under the direct supervision of Enzo Ferrari himself. This car was so cautiously and carefully designed that they only created 39, in a span of two years.

This car dominated the racing field at the time of its production. Ferrari went home with the FIA’s International Championship for GT manufactures three years in a row. It was said to be the last true front engine car to race competitively.

The GTO’s worth was spotted by many car and Ferrari enthusiasts, but one man went home with the most expensive car that has ever been sold. At the conclusion of the auction the winning bidder ended up putting up $38 million for this 250 GTO. This buyer, for the safety of their newly acclaimed property would wish to remain incognito.

This mystery buyer is not the only GTO owner in existence; in fact Ralph Lauren, Pink Floyd Drummer Nick Mason, and member of the Wal-Mart royal family, Rob Walton, all own this piece of Ferraris colorful history.

For this man, maybe money does buy happiness… if you have a spare $38 million to throw away.
