The Walkersville Lions Freshman football team completed perhaps their greatest single season ever as they ended the year undefeated with a record of 8 wins and 0 losses.

The most impressive statistic of their season was that the Lions did not allow a single point throughout all eight games.  The Lions dominance over their opponents extended to their offense as well, as they averaged 43 points per game.  Over the course of the season Walkersville outscored their opponents 304 to 0 including a 33-0 win over arch rival Middletown.

Head Coach Lee Palmer had this to say about the season: “It was a perfect year; it will be impossible to match this kind of production again.”  The freshman team was so good that Brunswick forfeited their game against Walkersville for fear of being destroyed.  When asked about the team’s best win of the season freshman Ty Littleton said “I would say the game against Middletown because heading into that game they were also undefeated.”

One of the freshman key to the team’s success was Billy Gant; he had this to say about the season. “We had a great year; we dominated every game.” The future of Walkersville football is very bright with this group of players at the helm and multiple state championships maybe in their future.
