The Lady Lions stormed the field tonight like a pride of lionesses on the hunt for their next meal. Walkersville scored within the first thirty seconds of the game and never looked back on the visiting warriors from Boonsboro, winning 20-12.
It was a team effort from every forward to every defender. Sydney Dudley had multiple goals, Hannah Condren had a multi goal night as well as multiple assists, Annie Marker had eight saves on the night with two coming on 1v1 situations.
The Lions had a demanding 14-3 lead at the half and seemed ready to cruise through the last twenty-five minutes. They looked more skilled, more practiced, and more athletic than the wounded Warriors. Every faceoff, pass, shot, and save looked crisp and clean.
The Lions took out their key pieces with 5 minutes remaining in the game and saw the Warriors only surge of the night when they racked up eight goals on the relaxed Lions in the last four minutes; but it was too little too late and the number two seed was given its cue to exit from the playoffs.
The number one seeded Lions look poised to go far this year. Behind their brickwall of a goalie Marker, a mix of veterans in every position, and some young blood in the freshman and sophomores that were moved up.
Their next game is Wednesday May 13, 2015 at six o’clock in the Lion den. Their opponent is defending state champions Manchester Valley.
