New Lion Mural In the Gym a Huge Hit with Students and Staff
by Addie Robert
Recently there was a new Lion painting added to the Walkersville High School gym. This painting was made by Christian Mrosko. Mrosko has been drawing and painting since he was a kid. Mrosko went to Youngstown State University in Ohio. Painting like these normally take about a week or so for him to do, he works about ten hours a day. Mrosko does these kinds of paintings as often as he can; this year he has managed to do eight.
The Lion painting is a big hit to the staff and students.
“ It is a great focal point for the gym and helps set the stage for all our athletic contests” Assistant Principal Sheri Murphy said. “I love it — it was well worth the money and it is really great,” said Assistant Principal Jason Lininger.
“We have had this idea since last April. I love it! I help designed it with a group of kids and teachers and it is unlike any other one in the county. I really appreciate how phenomenal it is. No other school has something like this so it gives the kids something that no one else has” Principal Tracey Franklin said.
“ It looks very amazing and it is a great addition to the gym. All my friends were talking about how cool it was. I cannot wait to see it during upcoming basketball games” Camaryn Chretien a senior at Walkersville High School said.
“I think the Lion painting in the gym is really awesome. It is a great touch and it shows how the sports teams are ready to play. The student side was kind of plain without the painting. We need to show the other team who is ready to fight,” Piper Susi a sophomore at Walkersville High School said.
