The Village Tavern, a Favorite Walkersville Restaurant for 28 Years
by Ashley Terry
Many people need a great place to eat after a long day of work. The Village Tavern is the perfect place just for that.
Located in Walkers Village Way, The Village Tavern is family friendly, as well as a perfect spot if you are an adult in need of a few cold ones. The menu consists of soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and more.
My personal favorite is the Dune Fries. The Dune Fries are perfectly cooked french fries with melted Monterey cheeses, topped bacon bits and spring onions served with ranch dressing.
To start off your meal with some appetizers, these are the choices: dune fries, crab dip, a chicken quesadilla, a combo platter, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, wing dings, tavern nachos supreme, crab stuffed mushroom caps, buffalo chicken dip, chicken strips, potato skins, jalapeño poppers, and steamed shrimp.
There are also dishes for children. The kids menu contains a three ounce cheeseburger, popcorn chicken, a grilled hot dog, chicken tenders, grilled cheese, and spaghetti with tomato sauce.
The dinner menu has Filet Mignon, New York Strip Steak, Chopped Steak, Spare Ribs, Chicken Breasts, Surf and Turf, and Chicken Parmesan.
The seafood menu contains Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Stuffed Haddock, Salmon Crowns, Shrimp and Crab Cake Combo, Fried Shrimp, and Stuffed Shrimp.
I got the chance to speak with owner Liz Murray. She said, “It has been in business for twenty-eight years. I’ve worked here for all of the twenty-eight, and it’s been mine for eighteen. My late husband and his parents thought that Walkersville would be a great community for a restaurant. This is the only location that the tavern has ever been. At one point we had talked about expanding but I feel like it should just be in Walkersville.”
For upcoming events, there will be “possible music.” That’s something to get excited for. The Village Tavern is open weekdays from Monday through Saturdays and is closed Sundays.
