Thursday night the then 3-5 Walkersville Lions took on the Boonsboro Warriors in a non regional varsity boys basketball game.

Junior Alois Cea said this before the game: “I feel confident that we can definitely win this game tonight because we’ve just been playing really well lately. We’re gonna go off tonight.”

The boys have won four out of their last five games, including a three game win streak throughout that five game stretch. The team has been playing very well since starting out at 0-4 to turn it around to improve to 4-5. This is the team that people expected from the beginning of the year but unfortunately due to their late start after the state football playoff run, they are just now rounding into form. This team is a very dangerous opponent and has made that known with the noise of their recent success.

Cea said after the game, “We all played really well and moved the ball well, looking for our best opportunity to score. We limited our turnovers which in the end I think that’s why we were able to get the win.”

Senior Keanu Rosa said, “Our chemistry is going up gradually; we have a lot of talent and each one of us are contributing to the team to help us better ourselves to help us get the win. So far we are almost halfway through the season; we are right where I’d figure we’d be. We are finally connecting and playing together and each game becomes even more fun than the last. We have to keep this momentum going and we’ll keep winning games.”

The Lions have a lot of momentum going into their future games and feel like they have finally come together as a well rounded team.

Junior Kyle Daggett said, “We started off slowly but we are finally starting to come together as a team. It just feels like it’s clicking right now. We’ve won three in a row and four of our last five, so we’re feeling good right now.”

Tonight the team takes on the Catoctin Cougars at home at seven in a game that they’re feeling really confident about.
