Girls Lacrosse Enters the New Season with New Found Hope

by Mackenzie White

As sports teams kick off their new season, Girls’ Lacrosse has something besides just new uniforms. This year they have a new found hope as well.

Senior Hannah Condren says, “I’m feeling very hopeful for our season this year. I think that we can go really far into playoffs and postseason.”

Condren continued with, “ I’m very excited about our scrimmage, I think it will be a good chance to showcase our abilities so far. We’re on the road to states.”

Besides their returning seniors and juniors, the Varsity team has a few new additions as well. One of whom includes sophomore Rian Wright. Wright said, “I think Girls Lacrosse is going to have one of the best seasons yet. We are a very talented team this year and have a lot we’d like to accomplish. We plan to go on an undefeated streak this season. We have a scrimmage tonight and our first game is next week.”

Wright added, “We have been working hard each and every day at practice in order to accomplish our goals. “Thank God it’s Monday” is our motto this season and after every practice we say “No plays off, no days off.”

Returning varsity senior Brooke Shortt said, “I think this season we have a lot going for us. We’re a really young and talented team and I think that we’ll be able to do a lot with the talent we have.”

The team has a number of great assets ranging from quick, skillful attackers and middies, to a stellar defense, and a Division 1 goalie, Annie Marker. Marker has committed to Saint Mary’s college of California where she will be continuing her goalie career.

The team is looking to have a successful season filled with eventful games and hard work. As they say… “No plays off, no days off.”
