WHS Shakespeare Club Presents Scenes From Several Plays This Weekend

by Katherine Boroughs

Walkersville High School’s Shakespeare club does one of Shakespeare’s plays each year. This year they will not be doing a full show, but rather scenes from multiple different shows written by Shakespeare. The show this year is being directed by English teacher Diana Sung, along with the help of students here at Walkersville High School. The production is coming very close to being performed, as it is less than a week until opening night; there are so many things to be said on how the show is progressing through the rehearsal process.

“There’s been a lot of character development and the actors have put a lot of time and effort into this production,” sophomore, and first time co-director, Anna Bennett said about the cast of this year’s show, especially the show she is helping direct, Titus Andronicus.

“It’s coming along a lot better than I thought it would have, and we have a lot of good directors this year,” junior and co-director of Titus Andronicus Jayla Pollock said. Pollack continued by giving the directors the credit they very much deserve, “Mrs. Sung has helped us a lot with [remembering] to have different levels on stage.”

“I think it’s going really really well,” sophomore and student director Erin Kopit began. “The scene I’m directing has a lot of blocking but the actors in my scene have really done a lot of work and it’s coming together really well,” she continued. “I’m having a ton of fun this year! It’s really fun to get to do different scenes from differences and be directed by my peers,” Kopit finished
