Senior Swimmers Reminisce Over the Past Four Seasons
by Aly Riggs
Senior night is always bittersweet. Last night the swim team had their senior night. Throughout the 2016-2017 season the swim team has had many memorable and successful meets.
Senior Grace Armogida mentioned “It’s really bittersweet that it’s my last year competitively swimming. I have been on a competitive team since I was eight so it’s going to be a weird adjustment. So far my senior season has been amazing. I have an awesome team and they are like my second family. Even though we aren’t winning as much as we did last year,` it’s still been a really awesome season!”
“I think that tonight there will be a lot of emotions going on but nonetheless I’m excited. I will definitely miss swimming because it has been such a big part of my life for so long but I’m excited to start a new chapter of my life beyond it,” continued Armogida.
Most seniors also talk about how they will miss their teammates. Being on a team is beneficial in so many ways. You meet many new people while doing something that you love. Isn’t that awesome?
“Swimming has always been a part of my life because I started on my neighborhood team around five years old, so the fact that my last year of high school swim is coming to an end is unreal. So far I have [had the] best times on all of my events, so senior year has been going quite well for me,” said senior Jack Chavez.
“I’m excited for tonight because I get to share a special moment with my family, as well as some of the people that I’ve swam with during my whole career. I’m definitely going to miss the competition and the close bonds I have made with the swimmers on this team,” continued Chavez.
Last night the Walkersville swim team won against T.J. Highschool.
“My last year of swim is bittersweet because I’m going to miss everyone on the team but I’m ready for it to be over. My senior year has definitely been memorable because I got to be a captain with some of my favorite people, and of course winning our senior night meet against TJ will be a memory I’ll keep with me. I’ll miss the bus rides to meets, team dinners, and bonding with my teammates overall the most because they were some of my closest friends,” mentioned senior Claire Owen.
Senior night is always the greatest memory but winning makes it even more special!
