Wrestling Hits a Roadblock Against the Number One Ranked Team In the State
by Wolfgang Sonne
On Tuesday night the Walkersville Varsity Wrestling team took on Maryland’s first ranked Middletown Knights and lost 75-0.
Middletown has proven to be a very tough opponent this season overpowering Walkersville in last nights match. Senior Jake Borowski said, “We knew going into the match that we weren’t going to get the victory. We were proud with our effort because none of us gave up in our individual matches, we lost badly in team points, but we never gave up and lost with class and dignity to a really good team.”
Walkersville fought hard in every match this season but are struggling to this point in the year. Senior Chad Gleason said, “Going into our next match we have to increase our intensity. Middletown is first in the state and has outstanding wrestlers, so we knew it was going to be tough. We also know that we won’t face another team like that for the rest of the season. We just have to look to improve our moves and work to get better everyday.”
Walkersville will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss to a powerhouse of a team. After a good, hard fought match there was a lot positives to take away from this loss.
