Sophomore Lindsey Windsor Pitches Two No Hitters in First Three Games to Lead WHS Softball
by Jonathen Bowersox
Sophomore Lindsey Windsor is a pitcher on the Walkersville High School Softball team. Her fast pitching has stopped all opponents for two games straight, and has led her team to a 3 and 1 record.
Windsor has been playing softball nearly her entire life. To be exact since she was four years old. She started out playing for the Woodsboro Rec. League, and then she stepped up to Terror Travel when she was 11. She currently plays for the Maryland Stars club team at the 18U level.
“Growing up with Lindsey has been a really good experience since I’ve gotten to catch for her since we were really little starting out. To see her grow as a pitcher has been a really fun experience, and I am very proud of her,” said sophomore Kate Donaghue.
Windsor has had an incredible start to her season with two no hit games against Urbana and Frederick, their second and third games of the season. Windsor has a batting average of .462 and a on base percentage of .533. She also has a slugging percentage of .846, and has had 44 strikeouts already this season, plus has pitched all 25 innings this season. “It feels really good cause I put a lot of work in over the winter, and it’s finally paying off. Urbana was one of them, and I was surprised because they’re a really good team. Pitching is a lot of pressure because I determine the pace of the game and I have to hit every spot. You have to know your hitters and trust the people on the field,” said Windsor.
All her teammates and coaches are very proud of her accomplishments so far this season and hope she does even more great things. “I’m extremely happy for Lindsey and her achievements thus far in the season. She worked hard in the off season, and continues to bring that dedication to practice. I expect even greater things from her throughout the season and her high school career,” said head coach Erinne Warrenfeltz.
Windsor and the Lions hope to continue their success for the rest of the season and with the help of great pitching there is no doubt they will get there.
