Prom Queen Olivia Ruth and Prom King Cody Strange Surprised and Happy

by Nathaniel Mulitauaopele

On May 5th, 2017 Cody Strange and Olivia Ruth were crowned prom king and queen at Walkersville’s prom under the stars.

“I was shocked, taken aback that I had won with Olivia.” said prom king Cody Strange. “She is my best friend — to win something like that with her is great.” Strange continued. “You never know, the voting is separate, so happy we won together.”.

The two best friends were announced by current Mr Walkersville, Alec Parker. Strange really enjoyed his time at prom, saying that “the people in the group made the night.” and when asked how he felt about his last prom in high school he said “I don’t know how to put it in words.” and said that “prom in general with friends is fun!”

“I was surprised!” said prom queen Olivia Ruth “cool to win with my best friend, to be nominated, to win, it was a really exciting surprise.” she continued. “I had a really fun time, it was a special night to end school. Friends from other schools came, and the group I was with made it really fun.” she said “I’m gonna miss it, friends and teachers the familiarity.”

“I was happy for them. It’s cool they’re best friends.” said senior Parker Schading “I was surprised too.” continued Schading. It seemed like Ruth and Strange weren’t the expected winners of the prom. Olivia was very surprised after winning, like she did not expect it.

It is like magic that two best friends won prom king and queen on their last year of high school; seems like something that only happens in Disney movies. But it happened on May 5th, 2017 at Walkersville’s prom under the stars, and the two winners will surely keep this special night in their hearts long after their high school career.
