Lions Roll to 69-0 Shutout Victory Over North Hagerstown
by Andrew Mori
Walkersville defeated North Hagerstown 69-0 to run their record to 4-0. The Walkersville Lions are on the path to another undefeated season, as so far every game they’ve played has been a blow out. This season Walkersville has only had 6 points scored on them.
Before the game I talked to some of the players and they seemed very confident that they would crush North Hagerstown.
Senior Noah Sadler said “It’s gonna be a blowout like every other game; we have much better players then North Hagerstown.”
I also asked Junior Ryan Davis how he thinks the team is going to play and he said “I believe that if we come at them hard at the beginning of the game, we start with a big lead and keep it going till the end of the game”.
The Lions came hard in the first quarter and scored 35 points on North Hagerstown which puts them up 35-0. Walkerville slowed down a little and by the end of the half the score is 56-0. The Walkersville Lions were tired when the second half of the game started, at the end of the 3rd quarter it was 69-0. Neither team scored in the 4th quarter.
After the game ended I asked players how they thought the team played as a whole.
Senior Tyler Gleason said “The team played awesome, [we] knew we had to come out firing on all cylinders and that’s what we did and got the blow out.”
I also asked Senior Jacob Wetzel and he said “we played to the best of our abilities tonight and we came out firing on all cylinders. We’re a hard team to beat when we come out strong like we did tonight”.
Junior Myles Roberts said “I think we played really well. We’ve been working really hard all week during practice and ready for anything they wanted to throw at us. As long as we work and play hard and stay together as a team I think we’ll have good outcomes”
The Lions dominated the North Hagerstown Hubs last night thanks to a defense that allowed -8 yards and an offense that was speedy all around.
The Lions take on the Linganore Lancers next Thursday night at Linganore High School, in a game expected to be tough and challenging for both schools.
