School Psychologist Jeb Fleagle Wants Students To Know His Door Is Always Open
by Rebecca Raub
In years past, there has never been a school psychologist exclusively for Walkersville High School, which is why students and staff are so excited about Jeb Fleagle becoming a part of our school. Fleagle has been a psychologist for all different grade levels for 11 years; however, this is his first at WHS.
Fleagle started off by stating, “It’s going well so far. I’m getting to know staff and I’m trying to get more students to know who I am and where I am in the building. I’m always here.”
Fleagle’s goal is to “Try to help the school represent the importance of mental health.” His favorite part of his job? Fleagle said it is “Being able to work with students to help them through different problems that (each student) face(s).”
Fleagle started his college education by attending Frederick Community College for two years, then transferring to Towson University and attending graduate school to receive his masters in School Psychology.
WHS staff members can not stop talking about how excited they are to have him at the school. Counseling Secretary Kelley Cardy says, “I really enjoyed meeting him and I feel like he is a good asset to our school.”
When asked about Fleagle, Registrar Deanna Meyer had only good things to say, “I have worked with him for about seven years at different schools. I was really excited when I found out he was working here. He is very approachable and always keeps a calm demeanor with the kids in any situation.”
It’s very evident that Fleagle is well-loved by staff and will be by students. Fleagle’s office is right outside the library by the copy room in Room 205. He wants students to know they can come by anytime and his door is always open.
