by Jessica Bentley

The leaves are changing. The weather is getting colder. Well kind of, but it is that time of the year again, Fall. When the air gets crisper and the scenery outside gets prettier.

With the season changing it means there are different activities to do, that only come with Fall. Pumpkin patches, apple picking, hayrides to look at the pretty colors, and jumping in leaf piles to name a few.

Apple Picking: Fall is the time when delicious apples come into season and are ready to be picked. You also find apple everything in stores whether it be apple cider, apple butter, or apple cider flavored pastries and foods. It is all about apples. There are many apple harvest festivals around us, which is a fun weekend activity. If you go to one, be prepared to eat your way through it because there are plenty of apple flavored samples and good food in general.

Pumpkin Patches: Halloween is coming up, so be sure to head out to the pumpkin patches and find the perfect pumpkin to carve out a spooky or silly face to put on your doorstep Halloween night. If carving is not your thing, Fall is also the time for pumpkin flavored everything, so if you are a baker you could always get a pumpkin and make some pumpkin treats.

Farm visits: There are many farms around here that do hayrides, corn mazes, and all kinds of family fun activities to fill a weekend. Lawyer’s Winterbrook Farm is right in Thurmont with tons of activities to do. So if you are looking for something to do be sure to check them out.

You can always go back to your childhood and rake up a pile of leaves and jump into them if you choose to. There are so many different activities to do during the Fall, whether it be taking in the scenery or doing Fall related things there is sure to be something to do for everyone.
