NBC Comedy A Good Place Winning Over New Fans
by Molly Lewing
Last year NBC introduced a new show starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson called The Good Place. The comedy was something new for viewers and it has done very well seeing as it’s on its second season and we can expect ot to be renewed for a third. “The Good Place is my favorite show — it’s so funny,” said sophomore Emily Goline.
Bell plays a deceased woman named Eleanor Shellstrop who is made to believe she made it to “the good place” after she died. There she is joined by Chidi Anagonye, an ethics professor, Tahani Al-Jamil a british socialite who did charity work, and Jianyu Li a buddhist monk (or Jason Mendoza a DJ from Florida). As Eleanor comes to terms with the fact that she isn’t supposed to be there, we learn Michael’s (Ted Danson) plan to torture the group which is where the second season picks up.
We are seven episodes into Season Two and the comedy is just as good. With Michael’s plan failing over and over again he decides to learn ethics from Chidi so maybe all of them can go to the Good Place together. “Season Two is just as good as season one was which is great because it always sucks when Season Two isn’t as good as the first,” said junior Natalie Miller. “I’ve loved seeing the development of the characters because Eleanor is definitely not the same person she was when she arrived,” said senior Parker Montour.
“I can’t wait to see how the rest of the season goes. The last episode was really good so I can’t wait for Thursday when it comes back on,” said Goline. Tune in Thursdays at 9pm on NBC to watch The Good Place.
