After waiting two years for the newest installment of the Star Wars franchise, The Last Jedi has finally hit theaters. The Last Jedi continues the storyline presented to viewers in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The film has already received 8.2/10 on IMDB and a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Slight Spoilers Ahead

Kylo Ren is still on his war path to rule the galaxy to prove himself as the next, and possibly better version of Darth Vader.

Finn is finding his place in the rebellion as he fights his friends and family from the First Order. Rey is slowly becoming the new face of the rebellion as she begins jedi training with Luke Skywalker.

The film starts off with the First Order attacking a rebellion base. Captain Poe Dameron decides to take on the First Order cruisers alone while the others evacuate. He destroys the weapons protecting the First Order’s weapon to destroy the base.

Captain Dameron wants to destroy the weapon attacking the rebel base because it is a rare weapon to come across. General Leia Organa is strongly against it because more rebel soldiers will die trying to destroy it. He ignores her and sends bombing ships towards the weapon. Rebel bombing ships are incredibly slow because of how much destruction they carry on board.

After the First Order destroys most of the bombers, only one remains. The bomber ship successfully destroys the weapon, sacrificing the crew on board. The rebels successfully evacuate their base and search for another at light speed. Members aboard the cruisers are the last of the rebel fleet.

As they’re travelling towards shelter, The First Order quickly followed behind them, tracking them at lightspeed. With their shields up, they are trapped until their fuel runs out. They quickly scramble to find a solution.

Meanwhile, Rey has found the man, the myth, the legend; Luke Skywalker, hiding out on his island. Rey is reluctant for guidance with her newfound powers. Luke however, is not the same jedi that we know and love.

After training his sister Leia’s son, Ben, he turned to the dark side and infamously became the leader of the First Order known as Kylo Ren. Skywalker stopped training young jedi’s due to his fear that it would happen again. Rey and Kylo Ren have a strange connection, they feel what the other is feeling. Rey feels the same conflict that Kylo Ren does due to his parents being members of the Resistance, General Organa and Han Solo.

Senior Parker Montour gave an insight of what to expect from the film (although I don’t agree), “I loved the cinematography but I did not really like the film. The plot was kind of anticlimactic and there were lots of plot holes. I also thought it was cheesy.”

“Marvel was comic books so it makes sense that it’s funny. Star Wars should have two one liners but they added too many and it took away [from the film]. It was a bit too comedic. It was good but not my favorite. It could have been so much shorter,” she added.

Will Rey turn to the dark side? Will the First Order destroy the last of the jedi fleet? Who will live? Who will die? Watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi to find out.
