Make a Difference By Signing Up Today for Next Friday’s Blood Drive
by Eikaiva Boyer
The American Red Cross and Walkersville High School’s National Honor Society needs you to donate now, well next Friday the 12th. NHS has introduced their next blood drive date and it is crucial for all students and staff to donate if you meet the eligibility list. Students and Staff can sign up to donate blood at all lunch shifts in the cafeteria next Monday the 8th, next Tuesday the 9th, and next Wednesday the 10th. You can also stop by National Honor Society Advisor Jamie Skena’s room, Room 163 to make any changes to an appointment.
Since the holidays have just passed, this means it is one of the most crucial times blood is needed for blood transfusions from the American Red Cross. Because of the busy holiday season from different holiday activities people participate in, blood donations tend to drop. “There is currently an urgent need for blood and blood products. Your donation is needed now.” Even though the holiday season is over, you can still perform an act of hope, by giving a life saving donation on January 12th at Walkersville High School’s Auditorium.
If you are unsure if you are eligible to donate blood…see below:

“It’s important for [students and staff] to donate in general. You’re saving someone’s life, even if you don’t really know them. That in itself is fairly important,” stated National Honor Society President Michael Tauriello.
“Donating blood at school is a selfless act that costs nothing but your time! Every pint that is donated can save up to three lives, and how many teenagers can brag that they’ve saved that many people?” stated National Honor Society Advisor Jamie Skena.
Remember to do something selfless this month and donating blood to National Honor Society’s blood drive is the perfect way. The blood drive is next Friday, January 12th.
