February 13th Is Galentine’s Day – a Day to Celebrate Female Friendships

Galentine’s Day is on February 13th. Galentine’s Day was created on the TV show Parks and Recreation that aired from 2009-2015.  It is a day that revolves women celebrating their friendships.
The Galentine’s Day episode aired on February 11th, 2010.  This holiday has been around for quite some time.
Sophomore Avonleigh Broadhurst said, “I celebrate Galentine’s day because I am a strong independent women who doesn’t need a man. My girlfriends are better than any guy — shoutout to my girls in flex.”
“Valentine’s Day shouldn’t revolve around your partner because relationship sucks, love sucks! You should still be able to celebrate even if you’re not in a relationship so that is why I think having Galentine’s Day is fun,” commented junior Hayley Wiley.
“I love the idea of Galentine’s Day. I really appreciate all of my friends. They deserve to have a day like this. I enjoy getting them things and showing how much I care about them” said junior Kylie McClung.
“I have never celebrated Galentine’s Day before but I am going to this year. I think it is fun to start new traditions with your friends,” said senior Felicity Borge.
